Introduction

With less than three weeks to go, I decided I should organize a blog so I could keep people somewhat updated with what I’m doing in Poland. I hope to add something at least once a month, pictures if nothing else. http://www.Flickr.com/hannahdea should still be the best way to view pictures and will be the first place I upload any pictures.
To anyone that I haven’t told already, I leave August 18th at 11:30am from Little Rock, then fly to Charlotte, NC, then Munich, Germany, then Krakow, Poland where my host family will pick me up.
I will be living in the town of Liszki, which is 8 miles from Krakow. I will attend Radosna Nowina 2000 (
http://www.liceum.fund.pl) which is near to my host town. My host Rotary Club is Krakow-Wanda (http://www.wanda.rotary.org.pl) and is unique in that is made up entirely of women.
I have been emailing my host sister, Agnieszka Skucinska, ever since I got my conformation form. She wrote, “My English is not perfect but communicative. Unfortunately, my parents cannot speak English and my sister is not living with us, and if the fact doesn't discourage you then it's great! You'll pick up some Polish
Definitely.”
Agnieszka has been very informative about the family, she wrote, “We live in a nice, big house with a big and beautiful garden. As we love animals, we also have some pets: two cats, a dog (German Shepherd) and 10 rabbits. Because we are a nice and friendly family I hope that you will enjoy your stay with us! We are looking forward to meeting you.”
She also told me that while in Liszki all you can do is “visit friends,” Krakow has numerous attractions.
Anyway, I am excited about this experience and am very glad to have the Rotary “mafia” to support me. Because of the Rotary network, I have been able to find and communicate with several past and current exchange students from several countries and continents for advice. In fact, I have also been able to communicate with another future exchange student, Luiz from Brazil, who will also be hosted by the Krakow-Wanda club and who will also be staying in Liszki.
Over all, the upcoming year is going to be a major change from living in Cabot, Arkansas, but I have gone through a lot of preparation and am ready to start my journey in Poland.
